SSGT US ARMY - WORLD WAR II
BUCKFIELD — Myrtle S. Gordon, 99, of Livermore went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014. Myrtle was well known for her warm loving personality.

Myrtle was born in Sumner on May 19, 1915, to Fred and Irene (Dodge) Stetson. She was educated in the Hartford Sumner School, and graduated from Canton High School. Myrtle graduated from Farmington Normal School, and went on to teach school in the local one room school houses.

Myrtle served as a WAC in World War II, and was an active member of the American Legion Post 58 Buckfield.

She was an 80-year member of the National Grange, and treasurer for the Town of Livermore for many years. She was also the organist at the Livermore Methodist Church where she was a member and was active in adult Bible study, Sunday school, and summer vacation Bible school.

She married Reuel Gordon in 1964 and together they had a blueberry business on Bear Mountain, spending and enjoying the mountain for many years.

Myrtle, Reuel, and family enjoyed many good times at their time share at Evergreen Valley. After Reuel passed, she and her cousin Ruth Webster continued to spend weeks there, well into their 90s. She and Reuel traveled often with family, their favorite being Alaska.

Myrtle received the Boston Cane in 2014 in a celebration at Livermore Town Office.

Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Sandra Harmon of Livermore; grandson Dwayne White of Canton; great grandsons Zackery and Cody White of Buckfield; great-grandaughter, Logan White of Jay; a sister Nettie Frechette of Norway, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Reuel Gordon; sister, Irma Jack; brother Ray Stetson; brothers-in-law Ernest Frechette, and Erlan Jack; and former husbands Vernal Andrews, and Edward Beckler.

The family would like to thank the staff from Hospice who were so very helpful and supportive in our time of need. Most of all, the family would like to thank Myrtle's niece, Anita Jack for all the care she gave.

Interment at Maine Veteran's Cemetery in Augusta will take place at a time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter. (Wiles Remembrance Center)
