John Joseph Abele

IRONTON, Ohio - John Joseph Abele, 81, died at General Hospital. Mr. Abede suffered a stroke of paralysis last Thursday night and entered the hospital the following day.

He was born February 20, 1878, at Sheridan, this county, a son of Caster and Margaret Abele. The family later resided at New Castle and Wellston.

November 29, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Geswein at St. Joseph's Church. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Abele resided in Portsmouth and Wellston and returned to Ironton about nine years ago after he retired from the restaurant business in Wellston.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Raymond Abele, Detroit, and a daughter Mrs. Elliott Miles, Columbus and 10 grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Adam Bodmer, formerly of Ironton and now resides in Cincinnati.

Requiem Mass will be solemnized Friday at 10 a.m., at St. Lawrence Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The body is at O'Keefe Funeral Home.
