Our FAVOURITE photo of dad! Here he is in California for my sister's graduation from UC Davis. He got tired of waiting for us, so he decided to have a puff on his pipe. He had Reeta's cap, and just put it on top of his head instead of holding it! LOL I saw this from where our car was parked and took the photo with my film camera. I laughed a lot at this. It sums him up perfectly - signature long beard, cowboy hat, beautiful Black Hills Gold belt buckle, camera bag on the side. This is how we will remember him.

I wish I knew what this was made of for sure. It seems like a teal-colored velour with possibly charcoal on the top for the drawing. Don't know what the highlighting is made of, though. It's a decent size - about 11"x17" - and mounted on a type of particle board.

This drawing was done at the airport in Saigon. My dad had just re-landed back at the airport after narrowly averting the plane getting shot down by the enemy. He, as a soldier, was on a plane with many, many high ranking generals, corporals, sergeants, etc. and apparently the enemy got wind of that. Well, our side also got wind of it and I believe just minutes after take off, they could see what was going on and landed back at the airport as fast as they could.
When my dad went back into the airport, this guy asked him if he wanted a portrait drawn. Not knowing what else to do and knowing they were waiting to get another flight figured out, he sat down and had this drawn to capture his demeanor.

I took this pic many years ago while dad was working at UC Berkeley. You can see he has a PALM PILOT in his hand. Remember those?!

Dad lookin' really sharp in his suit and tie and Santa hat! He was quite known for being Santa (especially after his beard grew much longer) and he had an AWESOME Christmas decoration collection. I think this was around 2005.

This is one of my favourite photos! It had a little bit of damage to it from dampness, but that's okay. This looks like a profile photo or a photo that could go on a new album cover! HA I think it's in Germany (or maybe Colorado) and had to be around 1973 or so.

A very rare clean-shaven dad! I think it's Halloween and I believe this is Germany about 1971. He was stationed at Kaiserslautern, if I remember correctly.
