Pius J. Krout, 79, husband of Mrs. Susan Schuman Krout, 520 York St. this place, died at 12:12 a.m. today in Annie Warner Memorial Hospital. A native of York County, he was the son of the late Daniel and Sarah Rohrbaugh Krout. He was a shoemaker early in his life, but later turned to railroading. Mr. krout was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad in the York and Hanover areas, and later transferred to the Reading Railroad. He retired in 1938. Mr. Krout was a resident of this place since 1909, and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. He also belonged to the Gettysburg P.O.S. of A. Lodge. Besides his widow, he leaves three children, Curvin E. Krout, this place; Mrs. Curtis Klinefelter, 1554 Monroe St. York; and Mrs. E.E. Bieber, Springtown, Pa.; four grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Mary Hamm, York. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bender Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle street, here. The Rev. Dr. Ralph Gresh, pastor of St. James church, will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
