78 years, 6 months, and 11 days old
Daniel M. Krout was born in York County, the son of Michael & Mary Krout, and was the husband of Sarah Ann Rohrbaugh Krout. In 1860, he was a farmer living in Springfield Township, York County. He stood 5' 9" tall and had dark hair and blue eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he was drafted November 9, 1862, in York and assigned to Co. I, 166th Pa Inf, at the rank of private. On November 23, however, he allegedly transferred "to an old regiment." What that "old regiment" was I have yet to discover. He did volunteer February 10, 1864, with Co. A, 21st Pa Cav (182nd Pa), and served at the rank of private until June 10, 1865, when he was discharged per general order.
