Pvt. Louis McDermott, (the son of William McDermott), of the 23rd PA Company L enlisted and was mustered into Company L of the 23rd Penn. Vols. In March of 1862, three companies including Company L were transfered to the 61st PA Vols. He finished the rest of his term with the 61st PA Company D. He is buried in
Hanover Green Cemetery in Hanover, Luzerne County,PA. The section he is buried in has no records, so there is no Section and Lot name. He is in the "Old Section" in the back of the Cemetery along the fence of the Jewish Cemetery which sits behind Hanover Green. His gravesite was discovered on July 23rd 2005 by Civil War Re-enactors.
