Bettye G. Sanders, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles W. Sanders; son, Stephen Carl Sanders of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Keith Paul Sanders and Jonathan David Sanders; sister, Louise Ballard of Abilene, TX; and numerous other relatives and friends. Bettye was preceded in death by her son, Dana Scott Sanders in 1975; parents, Charles and Effie Giles; and brother, Charles Giles.
She was born on December 2, 1930 in Breckenridge, TX and graduated from Breckenridge High School.
Bettye attended Abilene Christian College for one year before attending Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth.
She married Charles W. Sanders on June 1, 1951 and they moved to Kermit, TX in 1953 and then to Monahans, TX in 1957, following Charles' job with Richardson Oil. In 1969 they moved to Albuquerque where Charles worked for Pubco Petroleum, a subsidiary of PNM.
They lived in Nebraska a short time before moving back to Albuquerque.
Bettye and Charles were long-time members of Montgomery Church of Christ.
She was a passionate gardener and loved to cook for her family and friends.
Bettye was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
