History - A World War II U.S. Army veteran who entered service March 20, 1941 at Fort Douglas, UT. Sent to Fort Knox, KY where he worked as a clerk-typist. After 13 months as an enlisted man he went to OCS and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. on July 4, 1942. He was assigned to the 704th Tank Destroyer Battalion, 4th Armored Division and went through training at Camp Hood, TX. Sent overseas with replacements to Italy. Assigned to the 636th Tank Destroyer Battalion Recon Company. Saw action in Southern France, Germany and Austria as a platoon leader and company commander. After World War II he saw active duty during the Berlin Air Lift and the Korean War. Retired as a Lt. Colonel with 28 years of active and reserve service.

Retired as a teacher and elementary school principal. Also served as a city councilman and Mayor for approximately 14 years.

He and his wife had ten children, 39 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Lived on a small family farm at Layton, UT, a city of 45,000.
