SOMERSET – Aubrey "Mel" Armstrong, 79, of Somerset, died suddenly Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Winthrop, MA, a son of the late Aubrey W & Ruth (Benson) Armstrong, he was the husband of Claudette (Thibault) Armstrong.

Mr. Armstrong was a produce manager for the Stop and Shop Store for over twenty-two years before retiring in 1979. A resident of Somerset for most of his life, he served in the Army National Guard for seven years as an ammunition chief. He was a parishioner of St. Louis De France Church in Swansea.

Besides his wife, Mr. Armstrong is survived by three daughters, the father and father-in-law of Kathy & Michael Leal of Somerset, Sharon & Nestor Levesque of Parrish, Florida, and Lisa Armstrong & her partner Dottie Teasdale of Somerset. He also leaves a brother, William B. Armstrong of Pembroke Pines, Florida. He was the grandfather of five as well as the father of the late A. Kevin Armstrong.

His funeral will be held from THE HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Louis De France Church, 56 Buffington St., Swansea. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
