Claudette E. Armstrong, passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. Claudette was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Adelard and Eva (Garant) Thibault, and has been a life long resident of Somerset. She has been a lifelong communicant of St Louis de France Parish in Swansea.

Claudette was an extremely active member of her Parish, especially in their fund raising programs, which included her being Chairwoman or Co-Chair of the Royal Century Club. She was a Eucharist Minister to the homebound, Lector and Woman Ministries Member. She also received the Marian Medal representing her Parish. Claudette was the President, Chairwoman, Co-Chair or involved with many organizations, including two terms as the President of the Fall River Diocesan Council of Catholic Woman, Province Board Member, National Council of Catholic Women Nominating Committee and member of The Board of Associates. The Ladies of Ste. Anne Sodality, Rosary Committee for the Diocesan Centennial Celebration, "Women in the Bible", "The Faces Of Mary", "Hail Mary's for Peace Program". She was Instrumental in getting the "Our Lady of Guadalupe" Image to the Diocese. Years ago she assisted the Diocese with placing children through the Catholic Social Service Office.

A very gifted seamstress, Claudette was a member of the decorating committee for 32 years assisting with the former Bishop's Ball. Claudette made stoles from a design made for the NCCW, which were given to Moderators, newly ordained priests, Diocesan Priests and then Bishop Sean O'Malley.

Having been a 14 year cancer survivor of stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, she traveled to Lourdes to give thanks. Claudette had an absolute devotion to Mary, Our Blessed Mother. She always said it was the support of her late husband Aubrey "Mel" Armstrong who made it possible for her to do all her charitable works. Together they traveled to 48 states and he traveled with her on 11 pilgrimages to Medjugorje, Fatima and Lourdes.

For over 39 years she was a valued employee of the Hathaway Funeral Service, serving as a funeral coordinator, assisting families during their funerals services. She was a very tireless background worker for the Funeral Homes, doing the planning for Memorial Services, planning the Annual Christmas Parties among many other things. She suggested that instead of the staff giving presents to each other, at Christmas, "we should give back to communities we serve." So through her efforts many of the food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters have received new equipment, food and warm clothes to distribute so to continue their good works.

Besides her late husband "Mel", Claudette was the mother of the late A. Kevin Armstrong, and is the mother of Kathy Leal and her husband Michael of Somerset, Lisa Armstrong and her wife Dottie Armstrong of Somerset, Sharon Levesque and her husband Nestor of Parrish. She is the grandmother of Colleen, Kimberly, Daniel, Katherine and Elizabeth and great grandmother of Isabella. She is also survived by her extended family Thaydra, Denarah, DJ Cyr, Elon Ruiz and Jeff Marques.
