John Maurice Ahern was born at Kankakee, Illinois, on July 25, 1905. He was the son of James J. Ahern and Nellie Pridmore. John lived for his first few years at Kankakee, but most of his youth was spent in Wayne, Nebraska, where his family operated a general mechandise store.
In the early 1930‘s John lived at Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked for a bank. It was there, on December 24, 1932, that he was married to Cecelia Bade. They later moved to Chicago, where John worked as an insurance salesman. John and Cecelia had three children, two sons and a daughter.
John died in Kentucky on December 2, 1976. Funeral services were held in Chicago, with interment at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois. John was survived by his daughter and a son; two sisters, Margaret (Wertman) and Marian (Lippold); and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who died in 1974, and a son, John, who died in 1954.
