Ben Porter of Valparaiso, Fla., beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away unexpectedly on January 9th, at his favorite place on earth, his hunting camp. He is a retired USAF Master Sgt. and a local builder since 1989. He loved God, family, hunting, and the Braves. He never met a stranger and always shared his contagious smile.
He was born in Brookhaven, Miss., to the late Benton Lee Porter and the late Wilma Porter.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia; children Tonya Porter Hundley (Gabe), Angelia Porter, Ben T. Porter (Janice); grandchildren McKenna, Brayton, Christian, Kimberlyn, Parker, Annakah, and Kellyene; siblings Carroll Ray Porter (Peggy), Lynn Slade (Louie); nieces Darlene Doughty (Stephen), Sonya Cunningham (Tim), and nephew Stephen Sisco (Christine). He is preceded in death by sister Patricia Diane Porter, and nephew Tony Porter.
There will be a time of visitation held on Tuesday January 13, 2015, at First Baptist Church, Niceville, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Interment with full military honors will follow in Heritage Gardens Cemetery.
