He was the son of the late Marshall and Rettie (Null) Valentine.
He served in the United States Navy and was a World War II veteran.
He was a retired steel worker from Mt. State Steel with over 30 years of service and a member of the Newark Baptist Church and Wirt Masonic Lodge No. 82 of Elizabeth.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Betty (Weaver) Valentine, six children, Steve (Shelia) Valentine of Parkersburg, Robyn (Jerry) Maze of Elizabeth, Kenneth (Kim) Valentine of Washington, Bruce Valentine of Parkersburg, Brian (Carrie) Valentine of Elizabeth and Matt Valentine of Parkersburg; 10 grandchildren, Megan and Ashley Valentine of Parkersburg, Stephanie (Jeremy) Jones of Burning Springs, Reagan Maze of Elizabeth, James Maze of Indiana, Seth, Angela and Brooklyn Valentine of Elizabeth, Samantha and Laken Valentine of Parkersburg; two great-grandchildren, Kaylyn and Aliza Jacaby; one sister, Lillian Gay Schoolcraft of Columbiana, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two children Marshall and Clifford Valentine, and six brothers.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, April 13, at Matheny Whited Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Whiteman and the Rev. Dwight Brohard officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Parkersburg.
