The Fatal Prevalence of Diphtheria -

Last Saturday week Maggie Eager, aged six years, residing at No. 14 Laloup street, in South Baltimore, died of diphtheria. She was buried on the following Sunday, the parents, John and Adaline Eager, attending the funeral. On Monday last Mrs. Eager was stricken down with the disease, and on Wednesday, Mr. Eager was laid up with the same malady. Medical skill did all that it could to save the parents and kind neighbors nursed them, but Mrs. Eager died on Friday and was buried on Saturday morning. Just after the neighbors and friends returned from the funeral of Mrs. Eager they were saddened by the intelligence that Mr. Eager had died at about noon. The remains of Mr. Eager were buried yesterday afternoon at Cedar Hill Cemetery beside those of his wife and child. Willie Eager has gone to live a Mr. Werner, on Arlington avenue.
