Mary R. Toland, wife of Talmage Sutherland, departed this life March 21, 1894.
The deceased was born near Martinsburg, Va., Jan 13, 1829. At an early age she removed with her parents to Springfield, O., and later she removed to Indiana where, in 1851, she was married to Talmage Sutherland. The family home has been in Iola since July 1878.
The deceased united with the M.E. church at 13 years of age, and has ever since lived a consistent Christian life. She was the mother of seven children, four of whom died in infancy. Two daughters and one son survive her and with their father, mourn an irreparable loss.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wm Hankins at the residence on Wednesday, March 28, and were very solemn and impressive.
