Agnes P. Wilkins, age 89, of Shalimar, FL., made her transition from her life here on Earth to her Heavenly Home on Friday, 13 April 2012 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She will be reuniting in Heaven with her beloved husband, Clinton L. Wilkins.

Agnes was born in Kinard, FL to the late John William and Beckie Daniels Player. After graduating from high school in Kinard, FL she moved to Panama City, FL where she was a cashier in her uncle's Grocery Store. There, she met the love of her life, Clinton L. Wilkins, and were married on 7 January 1942. They moved to Laurel Hill, FL in 1947 and lived there several years prior to moving to Shalimar, FL. Agnes (or Aggie as some called her) began her Civil Service career at Eglin AFB in 1958 working in the Civilian Personnel Office. She retired from the Transportation Squadron at Eglin in 1985 after 27 years of service. She was a member of Oakland Assembly of God Church in Fort Walton Beach for many years (the Church is now Revive).

Agnes was a kind and loving wife, mother, maw ma, granny, and sister. She had a great sense of humor and was overloaded with wit. She loved kidding and joking with everyone. You had to be quick to pull something on her. For many years Agnes and Clinton enjoyed some good fishing and spending time at their place on the lake in Wewahitchka, FL. Her family will always cherish the memories and years they had with her.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents John W. and Beckie D. Player, her beloved husband, Clinton L. Wilkins, two brothers, Henry Player and Silas C. Player, two sisters, Lula B. Kemp and Maggie A. Shirrah.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis J. Gortman of Wewahitchka, FL and Carolyn A. Carte of Shalimar, FL; four loving grandsons, Thomas E. Wood (Gloria), Christopher M. Wood, Russell A. Wood all of Wewahitchka, FL and James W. Carte (Amy) of Fort Walton Beach, FL; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ola Mae Clark of Port St. Joe, FL; two brothers, Otis Player of Palatka, FL; and John W Player, Jr. of Destin, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 17 April 2012 with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of McLaughlin Mortuary, 17 Chestnut Avenue, Fort Walton Beach, FL with Evangelistic James Nichols presiding. Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Flowers are being accepted.
