Ferdinand Suko was born in Tarutino, Bessarabia (in modern-day southwestern Ukraine) to Samuel Suko and Wilhelmina Uttecht.
He married Maria Gierrmann and they had a son, Alfred, and daughter, Mathilde, before Maria died in June 1892. Mathilde died a few months later.
He married Anna Maria Widmer on November 7, 1892 and farmed in the Tarutino area. In 1902, the family emigrated to the U.S. where Anna Maria's parents had emigrated a year earlier. They passed through Ellis Island to their destination in Ritzville, Washington, the end of the railroad line. From there, they traveled 40 miles to Warden to establish a homestead.
They had children: Mathilda, Walter, Bertha, Albert Adolph, Clara Maria, Ernest, Emma Mae, Emil and Ella Pauline.
