To the family and friends of Damion. I share your grief, and I still do. Damion was a PFC in this photo during a Class A Inspection, him and I, his Squad Leader. I knew Damion was mature beyond his years, and was proud to see him get his first car in Italy. He grew up my soldier for almost three years, and then grew to be my friend and equal in the ranks.
I left the army after our year of Iraq. I told him he was going to Afghanistan next time. He said he understood, and nothing would have stopped him. He loved Italy, and the ladies loved him. I always thought that a new river was made in Europe, a river of tears from all the girls that loved him. He spoke to me of his mother, and his little brother, and how he loved him so much. We were a family, and soldiers usually shared each others thoughts.
I can never ease your grief, but know, many grieve with you. The memories remain.
Truly yours with all sorrow.
God be praised in Heaven.
