Arrived Pearl Harbor 18 Sept. 1944. Departed and arrived Maui November 1944. Embarked USS Lenawee 25 Dec. 1944 Went to Honolulu, Maui, Kaui, and back to Honolulu 10 Jan. 1945. Debarked USS Lenawee and embarked USS Auburn 11 Jan. Went to Maui then Back to Honolulu. Debarked USS Auburn and embarked USS Lenawee 24 Jan. 1945. Went to Atoll, Marshall Islands and Saipan. Arrived Iwo Jima 19 Feb. 1945 debarked 22 Feb and participated against the Japanese armed forces with the 5th Marine Division, in the seizure and occupation of Iwo Jima. Embarked USS Rutland at Sasebo Japan 24 Jun 1946 and arrived Norfolk, Virginia 1 Aug. 1946. Promoted to Corporal Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division Camp Lejeune North Carolina.
After Roswells Honorable Discharge, he met and married Patricia on 22 November 1947. Ozzie later partnered and owned Redwood Empire Lumber Co in Greenbrae, CA with Gardner Monroe. Before his death Ozzie worked with Charles Porro, owner of Homeowners Lumber in Santa Rosa, CA.
Roswell and Patricia Divorced in 1966 and remarried in Sonoma County, Oct. 24, 1972, to make a home for the Family and their son Barry's home coming from the hospital after three years in a coma from his bicycle accident.
