Ersal Snodgrass, 89, of Wetzel County, Porters Falls, died Tuesday, July 25, in Wetzel Co. Hospital, New Martinsville. He was a retired employee of Union Carbide, formerly of Hastings (Ersal was actually formerly of Wetzel County, Jacksonburg, WV], and a Protestant. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet E. Merrifield Snodgrass, on Oct. 4, 1979; his second wife, Alice Marie Starkey Snodgrass, who also died on July 25 [actually Ersal died before Alice did - same day]; three sons, Carl, Robert and Glen; his parents, Clem and Amanda Wright Snodgrass; a grandson [Gary, son of Carl]. Surviving are five sons, Cecil and Joe, both of Wetzel County, Jacksonburg, WV; Danny Gene of Bradford County, Towanda, PA [son of Ersal & Alice], James of Kent County, Grand Rapids, Michigan and John of Florida; a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Lorraine) Martin of Wetzel County, Reader, WV; 29 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren. Friends were received at Palmer Funeral Home, Pine Grove, WV. Services were held at 1 P.M. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Pine Grove. Interment in Wetzel County, Paden Memorial. Gardens, Paden City, WV.
