John Carter, age 83 of Dayton, passed away Sunday, February 3, 1991 at Grandview Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Violet Marie; and by 3 children, John, Lowell and Barbara. Mr. Carter was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War where he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Solar Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and the Victory Chapter. Mr. Carter was also a Shriner In the Antioch Temple of Dayton, Ohio. He was also a life member of American Legion Post 619 (Tony Stein Post), and was the former past president of the Retirees Union Local 755. He is survived by 5 children and their spouses, Marjorie Coffman, Patricia Rieder and her husband, Ronald, Alfred Dean and his wife, Alice, Homer E. and his wife, Virgie, and Dell F. and his wife, Victoria, all of Dayton; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-greatgrandchild; one brother, Paul G. Carter of Jacksonville, NC. Friends may call 4-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Magetti Funeral Home, 1508 Valley St. The funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Mt. Overlook Church, 1368 Huffman Ave. with Rev. Ralph Coomer officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Masonic Lodge Services 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home, and American Legion Post 619 (Tony Stein Post) services 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
