Sacred to the memory of Francis Hammond son of Saml B and Nancy Hammond who departed this life the 23rd Septr 1839, Aged 32 Years, 9 Months, and 13 days. He was born in Lancaster And died in Kershaw Dist. So. Ca. He was an affectionate Father, and Husband. Was respected by all who knew him. He has left a loving wife and Five small Children, Together with his Parents, Seven Brothers and One Sister, To lament their irreparable loss, about his last expressions were his hope of happiness after death and insisted in that feeble state to be Baptized Believing it to be the duty of all Who believe in CHRIST.
