Al graduated from Nashwauk High School in 1952, and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army. He worked as Chief Deputy Auditor for Itasca County and was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, the American Legion, Third Degree Knights of Columbus in Nashwauk, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus in Grand Rapids, Hibbing Elks Club, Grand Rapids Eagles and Moose Clubs, and was a past member of the Italian American Club.
“Uncle Al,” as he was known to both family and friends, had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Fr. Seth Gogelin, Fr. Tim Lange, and Tom Drazenovich for the spiritual guidance they provided Al in his last days by praying the rosary with him.
Al is survived by his brothers: Charlie (Joey) and Mike (Rita); and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank Ross.
Interment was in Nashwauk Cemetery.
