Leonard Lee Sexton, 81, of Huntsville died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at the home of his son, Carl Sexton, in Moberly.
He had two brothers, John and Archie Sexton, and two sisters, Martha “Sis” and Alice. Leonard was born May 11, 1928, in Boone County, the son of James and Elsie Opal Sims Sexton.
He married Bessie Hyde on Sept. 27, 1947, and they had four children.
On Nov. 7, 1977, Leonard married Alma Louis Stoneking-Gordy with six stepchildren.
Mr. Sexton worked many jobs, including as a mechanic, in roofing, driving a taxi and in general construction. His hobbies included gardening, raising flowers and shrubs, cooking and canning.
Mr. Sexton is survived by his four children, Sharon Clark of Higbee, Nancy Kaneer of Salisbury, Carl Sexton of Moberly and Brenda Robertson of Clark; and six stepchildren, Carl Gordy of Huntsville, Gerald Gordy of Venice, Fla., Donald Gordy of Moberly, Earl Dean Gordy of Benton, Ky., Mike Gordy of Denton, Texas, and Jerry Gordy of Cheyenne, Wyo. Mr. Sexton had 39 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; one brother, Archie; one sister, Martha; and one grandchild, Jennifer Kaneer.
