Gualberto Capdeville was the conductor of the Puerto Rico Philharmonic Orchestra since 1973. He studied at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music. As a professional violist, he played with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra for 14 years. He conducted the group "Los Violines del Conquistador", which had the distinction of being invited to the Ed Sullivan Show. He studied orchestral conducting with Efraín Guigui and Víctor Tevah, and performed as guest conductor with the Orquesta Sinfónica Panamericana of New York in Town Hall and Lincoln Center; the America Ensemble Orchestra of New York at Boricua College; the Arlington, Virginia Symphony Orchestra; and the Santo Domingo Symphony Orchestra. He was chosen as conductor of the Puerto Rico Philharmonic by its founder, Arturo Somohano.
