The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced U.S. Army Air Forces Staff Sergeant Vincent J. Rogers, Jr., Killed in Action during World War II, was accounted for on March 21, 2019.
On Jan. 21, 1944, SSgt Rogers was a radio operator/gunner for the 38th Bombardment Squadron, 30th Bombardment Group (Heavy), 7th Air Force stationed at Hawkins Field, Helen Island, Tarawa Atoll, Gilbert Islands, when the B-24J Liberator (bomber #42-72982; "Miss Bee Haven") he was aboard crashed shortly after take-off.
