Edward J. Ledvina, 86, former Maribel resident and retired manager of the Maribel
Lumber Co., died Sunday evening at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Gilbert Steinbrecker, of 1035 N. 16th St., Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Sauer Funeral Home and at
10 a.m. Wednesday at Sauer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic
Church, Kellnersville. The Rev. Francis Kerscher will officiate and burial will
be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ledvina was born June 25, 1883, at Kellnersville, son of the late Lawrence
and Catherine Rief Ledvina. He was a building contractor for 22 years and was
the manager of Maribel Lumber Co. for 40 yers, where he retired 20 years ago.
He married Theresa Sleger Sept. 4, 1904, at Kellnersville. She preceded him in
death April 25, 1962. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Joseph
Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, Leonard, of West DePere; four daughters, Mrs. Adolph
(Marion) Frelich, Mrs. Gilbert (Elinor) Steinbrecker and Mrs. Sylvester (Leona)
Herold, of Manitowoc and Mrs. John (Grace) Quinlan of Green Bay; a brother,
former County Judge Jerome V. Ledvina, of Manitowoc; four sisters, Mrs. Rose
Morrisey of Madison, Mrs. Ida Drengler of Shawano, Mrs. Joseph (May) Swaboda
of Manitowoc and Mrs. Olive Drasner of Rt. 1, Whitelaw; 23 grandchildren and
34 great grandchildren. A daughter, two sons, four brothers and a sister
preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday where a Holy Name
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. and a wake service will be conducted at
8:30 p.m.

GOT SLIVERS IN EYE
Ed. Ledvina is Victiim of Dangerous Accident at Grimms
Edward Ledvina, a Kellnersville man, brother to Assemblyman, L.W. Ledvina of
Two Rivers, may lose an eye as a result of a dangerous accident of which he was the
victim while at work as a carpenter at Grimms Thursday. Ledvina was using an adz
when in some manner a piece of wood struck him in the eye and two or three small
bits from the wood lodged in the optic. Ledvina was brought here and physicians
succeeded in extracting the slivers and it is hoped that Ledvina will escape serious
results form the accident, but the eye is in bad condition. Ledvina is a brother of
Jos. Ledvina, clerk in the Register of Deeds office.
