Obituary:
Gust Andrew Benson passed away at the St. Cloud hospital, Sept 7, after an illness of five weeks from an abscess on the lung.
He was born at Fryksande, Wermland, Sweden, May 8th, 1864 and he was 65 years and five months at the time of his death.
He came to America in 1866 and was confirmed at Neb. in the year of 1881.
He came to Collinwood, Minn. in the year of 1882 and lived there until his marriage to Miss. Emma Nora Lindberg on Jan. 22 1893 after which they made their home at Oak Park, Minn for two years and in 1897 they moved to Kingston, Minn. where he resided until his death.
Mr. Benson was a man of good character and was well liked and respected by all who knew him and will be missed by his friends.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and nine children: Harry and Claude Benson of Minneapolis; Mrs. Steve McLean of Kimball; Mrs. Delbert Ferguson and Raymond Benson of Kingston; Edwin, Vernon, Aldon and Vangel at home, six grandchildren, one brother and one sister of Colinwood, Minn.
His six sons: Harry, Claud, Raymond, Vernon, Aldon and Vangel were pallbearers.
Funeral services were held Oct 9, at 1:30 from the home and 2:00 o'clock from the Ostmark L. Church of which he was a member.
Rev. A.H. Franzen officiating and burial was made in the church cemetery.
The following from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Emil Lindberg, Mrs. Florence Lindberg, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Stoner, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Johnson, Mrs. Ida Englund, Mr. and Mrs. L A. Martin all of Minneapolis; and Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Mattson, Mr and Mrs. Ernest Forsberg, and Mr. and Mrs. Gust Hogstrand of Collinwood.
