Nell was the second of five children born to Thadeus Brower and Laura Belle (Ervin) Moose. She married Earl McNairy Schrum and they had five children: David Irwin., Sidney B., Laura Nell and Edwin Max and Paul Thomas.

NOTE: 1900 Census and Social Security Death Index has year of birth as 1891, but headstone has 1892.

HICKORY - Mrs. Nell Moose Schrum, 82, a retired teacher, died Wednesday. Funeral is 11 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Lincoln County.
Survivors are husband, Earl; sons, Dr. David Schrum of Houston, Texas, Sr. Sidney Schrum of Goldsboro, Dr. Max Schrum of Taylorsville, Dr. Paul Schrum of Hudson; daughter, Mrs. Preston J. Hoffman of Hickory; sister, Mrs. Rose Gragg of Newton.
