Thomas Benjamin Alexander was born on October 4, 1882 in Tennessee, and he was the son of Horace Leroy Alexander (1851–1904) and Martha Elliston "Mattie" (Cullom) Alexander (1859–1951).
He was married in 1904 as the 1st husband of Mary Christine Sanders (1885–1977).
A bookkeeper for a retail shoe store and living in Nashville, Thomas was 35 years old and married when he had an intestinal obstruction and died of a hemorrhage at Shoffner Hospital on March 23, 1918.
Survivors included his widow Mary, daughter Bennie Ruth, his mother Mrs H L Alexander and sister Mrs J A Stem of Portland, Oregon and sister Mrs P C Smiley in Nashville, brothers E M Alexander of Nashville, J P Alexander of the 469th Construction Squadron in France and H L Alexander Jr in military training at Fort Oglethorpe.
Funeral Services were held on March 24th at the Alexander home, and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
