She was a member of the "Maine settlement" who arrived in Rockton in May of 1838, accompanied by her brother whose name has not survived. She married as his first in Beloit, Wisconsin September 2, 1842 to Samuel Hersey, and they were the parents of three sons, the youngest dying in infancy.
