Shirley B. Furman, 87, a beautiful soul went to Heaven on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Shirley was the seventh child born on February 18, 1930 to Helen and Walter Button in Springville, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Pauline Button, Jessie Palmer, Walter Button, Jr. Duane Button, Irene Conrad, and Jay Button.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Howard R. Davis and Gordon Furman.
Shirley is survived by three children H. Kathleen Davis of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Denise Davis and her husband Harold Lake of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Paul Davis and wife Joellen of Austin, Texas.
She is also survived by step daughter Donna Tomaine of Forest Hill, Pennsylvania and preceded in death by her stepson Howard A. Davis of Carbondale Pennsylvania. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive Shirley.
Shirley has many friends in Northeast Pennsylvania and the Sothern Tier of New York with a special relationship with her surviving sister-in-law, Mary Button of Springville, Pennsylvania. Shirley graduated from Springville High School in 1948 in Springville, Pennsylvania. She had a 32-year career as a LPN at Heritage Nursing Home in Athens, Pennsylvania. Her passions were basketball, cooking and baking, and politics. She loved her beautiful home built by her husband Gordon in Chemung, New York and attending the Chemung United Methodist Church. Her family and friends will always remember her love of telling great stories and her sense of humor.
Interment will be at Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens, Pennsylvania. All are invited to a graveside service on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA with Rev. Fred Kelsey officiating. She will be missed by us all. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Chemung United Methodist Church.
