Married abt 1819 probably in Pendleton District, South Carolina to Mary McKenzie. Moved first to Rabun Co.,GA, then Monroe Co.,TN by 1830. From there came to Missouri, settling in Taney Co. before 1840. His wife died 1863 in Douglas Co. and Samuel returned to Stone Co. Per Dave Caldwell research Samuel is buried in the Anderson Cemetery on the West side, in the front corner near the gate. His grave was marked by a large field stone that was moved with other field stones so they could mow with power equipment.
Samuel and Mary Anderson had 7 children, all girls: Martha, Elizabeth, Sarah Jane, Anna, Helen, Dorcas and Eliza.
