Mary Helen Anderson, a daughter of Samuuel Anderson and Mary McKenzie who were both born in SC and lived in Georgia and Monroe Co., TN before coming to Missouri in 1837. Mary Helen married about 1847 at age 15 to John Watson in Taney Co., MO. She had 2 children by him - William C. Watson and Mary Ellen Watson. John Watson returned to home in Indiana and died there in 1853. Mary Helen then married 16 Jan 1857 Barry Co., MO to Leonidas A. Shannon and lived in Greene Co., MO, then moved first to Travis Co., TX, then to Bexar Co., TX. They had a daughter Edna B. Shannon born 29 May 1878 in Texas. Leonidas Shannon was a Civil War Vet and filed for a pension, as did Mary "Mara" Shannon after his death.
