Janda, Donald E.

Donald E. Janda, age 77, a Manitowoc resident, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

He was born on March 16, 1937 in Tisch Mills, son of the late Laudy and Rose (Fronk) Janda. Donald was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers, Class of 1955 and then graduated from Chicago Technical College. On May 26, 1956 he married the former Dolores Zeddies at First Reformed Church, Manitowoc. In 1964, Donald graduated from Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. In 1967, he transferred to the Army Reserve 377th Lt. Maintenance Co. being called to active duty, serving a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1968-69. Donald retired as a captain from the U.S. Army Reserves in January 1976. He was employed at Mirro Aluminum Company from March 1958 until January 1999, retiring as rolling mill plant manager. He was a past member of Society of Manufacturing Engineers, V.F.W. of Madison #15051, Reserve Officers Association and Mirro Management Club. Don was a very active member of First Reformed UCC and the Manitowoc County Historical Society.

Survivors include his wife: Dolores Janda, Manitowoc; two sons and one daughter-in-law: David and Barbara Janda, Onalaska, WI and their children Andrew, Decorah, IA and Sarah, Onalaska, WI, Dennis Janda, Manitowoc, and his daughters Amber, Berkeley, CA, Ami, Eagan, MN and Danielle, Jackson, WY; one brother and sister-in-law: James and Judy Janda, Manitowoc; and three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Carol and Charles Monka, Tucson, AZ, LaVerne and William Mueller, Milwaukee, and Elaine Nelson, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers-in-law: Beverly and William Holmes and John Nelson.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at First Reformed UCC, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be the Rev. Christopher Ross with burial of Donald's cremated remains at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at First Reformed UCC, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 until 10:45 a.m.
