Both Henry's survived by clinging to the floating river ice & being rescued. Joseph succumb to the river & his body initially lost, but was finally recovered later in the Niagara River near Queenston, Canada where his widow positively identified him & had his remains interred at Oakwood Cemetery. Possibly his mother Elizabeth & half brother Henry Van Wagnen's remains were placed nearby Joseph's remains. The Remains Found newspaper article was taken from the Niagara Falls Gazette, dated Wednesday June 3, 1874. So Joseph's body was recovered about the first week of May 1874, about 3-1/2 months after he had drowned.
