CLEARWATER - Raymond Mathews, 77, of 223 Island Way, Island Estates, died Tuesday. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he moved here nine years ago from Spartanburg, S.C., he was a retired architect and educator. Mathews was a member of Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church, the American Institute of Architects and was a former member of the American Association of University Professors. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his Master's Degree in architecture from the University of Michigan. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Marguerite P. Mathews; two sons, Dr. Kenneth P. Mathews, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Dr. Robert A. Mathews , Nashville, Tenn., two brothers, Dr. Howard K. Mathews, Bala-Cynwyd, Pa., and Joseph W. Mathews, Indian Rocks Beach and a sister, Mrs. Robert B. Ayres, Philadelphia.
