Jake V. Childers was born September 10, 1920 in Caney, Oklahoma to William A. and Hattie Pearl (Moss) Childers. He passed away on Friday, April 15, 2005 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 84 yrs, 7 months, and 5 days. Mr. Childers married Ruth Johnson on August 20, 1948 in Sherman, Texas. He spent most of his life farming. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and trips to Shreveport, Louisiana. He also loved to play dominos and esp "Moon"..He was a character who would leave you laughing so hard you didnt know if you could stop. He was such a joy to be around and so much fun. His family includes: Wife; Ruth Childers of Durant, OK. Daughters: JoAnn Stucky-Rogers & husband Bob of Durant, OK - Debbie Hutson of Atoka, OK - Aleah Bell & husband Garry of Durant, OK. Also a grand-daughter: Madison Bell of Durant, OK. Brothers: Edward Childers of Roseburg, Oregon - Roy Childers of Roseburg, Oregon...also several neices and nephews. Mr. Childers was preceeded in death by his parents, and seven other siblings: Rufus Childers, D.C. Childers, Troy Childers, Arlie Childers, Virgie Mae Walker, Irene Hopkins and Dorothy Lahman. Services were 2:00pm Monday April 18, 2005 at Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma. Officiating was Rev. Charles Howard. Soloist was Winna King. Pallbearers were: J.R. Smith, Eddie Clements, Don Shipman, Steve Downs, David Fogg Dennis Roberts and Kent Hutson. Final Resting Place: Folsom Cemetery in Caney, Oklahoma
