Josephus Grimes - Funeral services for Mr. Grimes, who died at his home, 125 Hardy Avenue, Monday morning at 1:30 o'clock, after a long illness, were conducted at the J. R. Williams Funeral Home, 1027 Chesapeake Avenue, South Norfolk, yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock.

The Reverend S. H. Rhodes, pastor of Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, and the Reverend C. S. Sawyer, pastor of South Norfolk Baptist Church officiated.

The attendance was large. Mr. Grimes was widely and favorably known in this section.

The floral tributes were numerous. The family design was a double end spray of pink roses, baby breath and fern.

The pallbearers were J. M. Lawrence, S. H. Harper, S. T. Williams, W. O. Baucum, J. H. Harvey, C. C. Hayes, C. W. Boone and W. H. Etole.

Burial was in the family plot in Magnolia Cemetery.

Josephus Grimes, aged 66 years, died yesterday morning at 1:30 o'clock at his home, 125 Hardy avenue, after a lingering illness of several years duration, heart trouble being the immediate cause.
Mr. Grimes, who had worked in the lumber trade for a long term of years, was a native of Norfolk County, near Wallaceton, but had spent 48 years in this section.
He was a member of the Berkley Avenue Baptist church and Elizabeth camp W.O.W.
The son of the late Erby and Kiddy McPherson Grimes, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Charlotte Grimes; two children, Mrs. Albert E. Wilson, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Joseph Norfleet Grimes, of San Pedro, Calif., and one brother, George L. Grimes, of South Norfolk.
The body was removed to J.R. Williams Funeral Home, 1027 Chesapeake avenue, South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
