Joseph Fimeyer, who resided on North German street, for the past 45 years, died at the farm home of his daughter, Mrs. Alois Frank, in Milford township, Tuesday evening at 9 o'clock, his demise being due to stomach trouble. He had been ailing, at intervals, for about 52 years, but his condition did not become serious, until the latter part of last January, since when he had been bedfast, most of the time. Deceased was nearly 74 years of age, having been born on the present Herbert Apitz farm, in Lafayette township, August 30, 1857. He was only five years old, when the Sioux Indians went on a rampage here, and his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fimeyer, fled with their family to St. Peter, via oxteam. They returned to the farm, shortly thereafter. Mr. Fimeyer was married twice. His first wife Paulina Dalueg, became his bride in 1879, and past away, the same year. [actually 1880] Their baby daughter [Sophia Paulina] died shortly after birth. On November 17, 1885, Mr. Fimeyer was married to Miss Emelie Dalueg, who survives him. Of the six children, born to this union, three have preceded their father in death; Mrs. Paul Janisch [Martha] passing away only last March 24. The three living children are: Mmes. Alois [Mathilda] and Joseph Frank [Meta], Milford township, and Miss Mary Fimeyer at home. Mr. Fimeyer moved to New Ulm with his bride, and this city had since been his home. He was engaged as a carpenter, and also worked a small tract of land on the outskirts of New Ulm. A few weeks ago, he went out to his daughter's farm home, seeking relief from the oppressive heat. There also survive 13 grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Voges [half-sister Elizabeth nee Kresz] of Courtland township, and Mrs. Carl Schwartz [Sophia], North Broadway. Funeral services for the immediate family will be conducted at the late home, this afternoon at 2 o'clock, by Rev. Gerhard Hinnenthal of St. Paul's Lutheran church. Interment will be made in the Lutheran cemetery.
