Burkett, Clara Roberson, 89, went to be with her Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ & to join her children Maynard E. Burkett III & Mary Alice Burkett on March 9, 2015.
Clara graduated from John Marshall High School in 1944.
In addition to her duties as wife & mother to three children, she taught Sunday School at Immanuel Baptist Church & was instrumental in establishing many Christian Womens Clubs throughout the Tri Cities Area.
Her survivors include Maynard E. Burkett, Jr., her husband of 68 years; her daughter, Mrs. Martha B. Wells of Lewisville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five nieces & three nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, March 12 at the Bennett Funeral Home, 14301 Ashbrook Parkway, Chesterfield where funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 13.
Interment to follow at Dale Memorial Park.
