Charles L. Wedel, age 94, of 4728 County Road B, Manitowoc, entered eternal life Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center, Green Bay, WI. Charlie was born March 17, 1921 in New York City, New York. He was the son of the late Charles and Ethel Neumann Wedel. After graduating from high school, Charlie was employed for two years as a tool and die maker. He then joined the United States Navy retiring in 1961 after 20 years in the submarine service. Charlie then became employed at the Oil-Rite Corporation for 22 years retiring in October 1983 as Executive Vice President. On August 29, 1942 he married Anne Kodai in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2005. Charlie was a member of the United States Submarine Veterans of World War II, United States Submarine Veterans, Inc., International Submarine Association, Fleet Reserve Association, Disabled American Veterans , Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto-Oas Post #659, American Legion Drews-Bleser Post #88, AMVETS Post #99, United States Navy Memorial, Wisconsin Maritime Museum, Travelers Protective Association, and Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church.He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law: Steven C. Wedel, Manitowoc; Phillip D. and Christine Wedel, Manitowoc; two daughters and two sons-in-law: Anne J. and Michael Angoli, Francis Creek; Barbara C. and James Mellot, Vacaville, CA; five grandchildren: Michael D. (Ruth) Angoli; Mark C. Angoli; Anne Marie (Michael) Enright; Bradley C. Satariano; Andrew P. Satariano; two great grandchildren: TessaMarie B. Satariano; and Camron Satariano; one brother: Richard Wedel, TX; one sister: Anna Ryan, NY; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Ethel Wedel; one son: Charles L. Wedel II; two brothers: Henry and Arthur Wedel; three sisters: Mildred Wedel, Ethel Stevens, and Dorothy Kluin.Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 916 Pine Street, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Bruce Schwark with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. The visitation will continue on Friday morning at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Drews-Bleser Post #88 at the church immediately following the funeral services.
