Mr. Davis was born in Sunville, PA January 8th, 1924 to parents Harvey and Jessie Davis. He grew up and graduated from high school in Jamestown, PA. He enrolled in Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA, interrupting his studies to enlist in the army. He served in the 138th Combat Engineers Battalion in the European theater during WWII. After graduating with a BS from Westminster in 1948 he began his teaching career at Franklin Township High School in Murrysville, PA. He went on to receive his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh.
He worked as an administrator in Shippensburg and Hanover, PA, Monroe Woodbury School District and Elmira, NY, eventually retiring in 1985 as District Superintendent of the Otsego-Northern Catskill BOCES in New York.
