Annis J. Wenzel, age 84, formerly of rural Reedsville, entered into eternal life on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center of Manitowoc.
She was born on December 9, 1929 in the town of Rockland, daughter of the late Bennet and Nora (Hougen) Torrison. Annis graduated from Valders High School in 1947 and then with honors from Manitowoc County Normal (Teachers College) in 1949. On June 29, 1951 Annis married Glenn Roy Wenzel in South Carolina. She taught at Niles, Woodland Park and then at Newtonburg. Annis was proud to be a teacher and then an Instructional Aide at Valders Public Schools. She was dedicated to enriching children’s lives both in Elementary School and Sunday School for over 40 years.
She is survived by her husband: Glenn Roy Wenzel, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: Richard (JoAnn) Wenzel, rural Reedsville, and their four children and great grand children: two daughters and sons-in-law: Joan (Jerry) Behnke, Manitowoc, and their daughter: Nicole, Milwaukee; Katherine (Fred) Gnadt, and their daughter: Marisa of Schaumburg, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Roger Torrison.
Private family services were held at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum. Rev Dr. Marc Axelrod officiated. Entombment followed at Knollwood Mausoleum. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with funeral arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.jensreinboldandpfeffer.com
