Joseph Marion “Jody” Mattingly, age 70 of Nazareth, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at his residence. He was born November 13, 1944 in Saint Francis. He was a former employee of Ivy Hill Packaging in Louisville; a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Whiskey City Cruisers. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Herbert “Herb” and Frances Susie Ruley Mattingly; one sister, Norma Lee McQuillen. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Elaine Lewis Mattingly, six sisters Louise Willard and Libby Mattingly (Hatsy) all of Loretto, Rose Mary Stengel (Mike) and Wanda Roberts (Wayne) all of Bardstown, Rita Hinton and Sue Downs (Ray) all of Louisville; three brothers, Herbert J. “Jiggs” Mattingly and Randy Mattingly (Diane) all of Loretto, Phil Mattingly of Nazareth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday, March 27, 2015 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Saint Francis. Rev. Bill Bowling will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation is 12 Noon until 8 PM Thursday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM. Pallbearers are Ronnie Mattingly, Frankie Mattingly, Joe Masterson, Randy Mattingly Jr., Arron Hahn and Jeffrey Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers are Bailey Whitfield and Jacob Hogan.
