Mrs. Frances Susie Mattingly, 74, of St. Francis, died at 7:45 p.m., Dec. 27, 1987, at Spring View Hospital, Lebanon. A daughter of the late John Thomas Ruley and Ida Mae Brown Ruley, she was born at St. Francis and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the West Marion County Senior Citizens Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Herbert (Herb) Mattingly, on June 9, 1983. Survivors include seven daughters: Mrs. A. C. (Louise) Willard, Mrs. James (Norma Lee) McQuillen, and Mrs. Rita Downs, all of Louisville; Mrs. Ray (Sue) Downs of Springfield, W. Va.; Mrs. Jackie (Wanda) Masterson and Mrs. Tony (Rosie) Bell, all of Loretto; four sons, Jiggs and Randy Mattingly, both of Loretto; Jodie Mattingly of Bardstown, and Phil Mattingly of St. Francis; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Dec. 30, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Jevin J. Bryan officiated. The West Marion County Senior Citizens Club formed an honor guard at the church. Pallbearers were Ronnie, Ricky, Tommy and Frankie Mattingly, Joe Masterson and Donald McQuillen. A prayer service was held on Dec. 29 at the funeral home. Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, was in charge of the arrangements.
