Sam collapsed yesterday at his job in Bloomington. He was taken to the hospital, where he passed away unexpectedly from a previously undetected heart condition.
He was a kind soul, with a great smile. He's my daughter-in-law's youngest uncle, but was raised in their family home. He's more like her big brother, just a few years older than she. His father died young, when Sam was just 4. His oldest sister and her husband, (my son's in-laws,) raised Sam 'til he graduated. My son and he were the best of friends, as well as family.
Sam was married less than 10 months ago and leaves 3 young step-daughters, in addition to his wife, mother, 8 siblings, and a ton of friends. Over 500 people attended Sam's funeral, many had to stand.
Sam was a collector of Superman memorabilia.
Rest in peace, Sam, you will be missed by so many.
