Bill is survived by all five of his children, Nancy Harmison (Joe) of Arlington, TX; Mary Nugent (Chris) of Arlington, VA; Elizabeth Mahler (George) of Columbia, MD; Bill Bussman of Houston, TX; and Charlie Bussman (Marie) of Ellicott City, MD. Also, six grandchildren Joanna Harmison Smith (Todd) of Magnolia, AR; Michael Bussman (Kelsey) of Houston, TX; Joseph Harmison (Heather) of Garland, TX; Samantha Bussman Rensel (Robbie) of Houston, TX; Alex and Eric Bussman of Ellicott City, MD and six great grandchildren: Olivia and Leighton Smith; Sean and Natalie Bussman; Healy Harmison; and Lily Rensel.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marian (Beebe) Bussman (1992), his sister Virginia Bussman Mesard (2004) of Aurora, CO, and his second wife, Frances Goff (2010).
Bill was born on October 11, 1922 in Scott County, MN to Ellen Hagman and William Adam Bussman. He grew up in Lydia, Wright, and St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating from Mechanic Arts High School (St. Paul), and Hamline University. He served in the Navy during World War II as a Supply Officer (Lieutenant) on the USS Livermore.
He married Marian Beebe, from St. Paul, MN, in 1946 and began a 35-year career with Texaco as a Sales and Marketing executive, which included moves to Iowa, Wisconsin, Connecticut (twice), and Texas (twice).
Marian and Bill welcomed five children into their lives between 1947 and 1960. After retirement from Texaco, Bill worked as a consultant for Security Church Finance in Houston, TX where he provided financial and fund-raising expertise to churches across the US to aid in their building efforts.
Bill was a dedicated father who loved his family. His faith in God was steadfast and was shared openly with all he met. He was an active member of all the churches he joined, including his current one, The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, McLean, VA.
Pastor Sandy Kessinger presided over a memorial service on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Chesterbrook Residences in Falls Church, VA, where Bill moved in 2012 to be closer to his children.
