Alberta "Birdie" Abel

Funeral Mass for Alberta "Birdie" Abel, 77, who died peacefully at home Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Pkwy., Palm Coast. Burial will be in the Columbarium of the church following the Mass. Viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time in the Memorial Room of the church.

Mrs. Abel was born Nov. 1, 1929, in New Rochelle, N.Y. She graduated from St. Gabriel's High School. She and her husband, Frank, were former owners of Knopflers Luncheonette in New Rochelle. She was later employed by Longines Wittnauer Company before retiring and moving to Palm Coast. Birdie was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and an active member in the Mother Seton A.M. Guild. She also volunteered as a bingo worker for the parish for many years.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Frank; son, Frank Jr.; sister, Mary-Louise Young, Port Charlotte; two brothers, James Alfano, Palm Coast, and Dominick Alfano, Punta Gorda; and an extended family of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations suggested to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 7 Florida Park Drive, Ste. A, Palm Coast, FL 32137.
