OBITUARY :
MR. H. GLENNWOOD "WOODY" RITZ, JR., 90, of 39 Mount Vernon Terrace, Waynesboro, died Monday afternoon, March 30, 2015, in Quincy Village.

Born June 27, 1924 in Quincy, he was the son of the late Harold G. Ritz, Sr. and Mildred (Verdier) Ritz. He lived most of his life in the Waynesboro area.

He graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1942.

Woody served with the United States Navy during World War II, serving in both the South Pacific and European Theaters.

He and his wife, the late Betty J. (Stitely) Ritz, were married on November 26, 1966 in the Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro. Mrs. Ritz died on March 23, 2013.

Woody worked at various car dealerships and garages, including Massey Ford in Hagerstown. Prior to retiring in June 1986, he worked for General Motors in Martinsburg, WV for 18 years as a stock picker. Following his retirement, he worked for Brake Pontiac Cadillac, Waynesboro.

He was a member of Otterbein Church, Waynesboro and the National AARP. He was a life member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, Waynesboro and was a charter member of ARCH Auto Racing Club in Hagerstown.

He is survived by one son, Gary L. Ritz of Calabash, NC; one step-daughter, Paula Sipe of Littlestown, PA; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty L. Freeman of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 2, 2015 in Otterbein Church, 801 Park Street, Waynesboro, with Pastor John Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Thursday morning, in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Quincy Village Benevolent Care Fund, 6596 Orphanage Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.
